Exclamation Superchips answer to detonation problem

I talked to a tech at Superchips today about getting my chip reflashed to remove the slight detonation (can you have slight detonation) above 4k rpm. The tech said they have had a few problems such as mine and that they just (within the last couple of weeks) found a situation where some of the CPUs were getting to 5 volts on the MAF sensor and that the chip went into some sort of default state. After doing what is described as a lot of digging through the program they said they found the problem and can easily update the program now. So, mine went in the mail today.

Can't wait to get it back. I was doing some cruising this weekend and really would have loved that little extra kick the chip gives.

Aaron: Hopefully yours will run as smoothy as mine when you get it back. As I was driving home from the Superchip factory last Friday, I was thinking that something was wrong. I was running so smoothly, I thought I was running a stock program, in that I was warned by so many that I might experience detonation in the first couple hundred miles. The first time I went to WOT, I knew that it was not the stock program. It continues to amaze me, and I can't imagine running without it. I notice your are not running any of the after market airboxes. The combination is unbelievable. I love my Airaid box, and I'm sure the other two are probably as good. I do like the added protection afforded by the box in the Airaid without affecting its breathing capabilities.

Aaron,

Is Superchips charging for the code upgrade? If so, how much?

I have to second what Sandy said about the intake mods (regardless of which one you do), and firmly belive this is a must have. Any of the 3 would be good to have, but my personal experience w/Sal's part has been great.

Just .02 worth....

Wyldman,
There shouldn't be any charge for the upgrade (reflash) I had it done once and was told early on that all the upgrades were free, except for shipping there---they pay for shipping back.

Talking

I had to send them a check for $15 for shipping. Other than that, no charge. I'm dying waiting for it to get back.

I definitely am going to get a new air filter/box/whatever. I can't decide what I want though. The ram air hood coming out in a few months looks very sweet, and the fact that it will be a working version is nice too. I'll wait and see if we can get some real data between this new Air Raid box and some of the other versions first.
