17* too much?

After reading a few posts about blown engines, I'm a little worried about my tune. I am running a RWTD tune with timing set at 17*. My A/f is good (WBC), but now I'm thinking about the timing. I always run Amoco 93 and it runs great with no audible detonation. I am seeing 13lbs of boost on the stock eaton. I have 15 and 17 degree tunes from James, maybe I should run the 15 degree tune? Or is 17 degrees safe with no pinging and good A/F?

Thanks, scared in Fla.

If your not pinging there is no problem. If your that worried step back to your 15 tune.

I have never heard any pinging at all. How many others here are running 17 or more?

lol...I wouldnt worry about 17 degrees too much, especially with a wideband for added protection to monitor air fuel.

Chesster- I'm running the 17* RWTD tune as well. In the last few days the temp has dropped and the L has turned into a beast! No detonation yet but I'm running alchy injection. I have the same mods as you but I'm seeing closer to 12psi.....what did you do to your airbox?

Ported eaton 15-16psi, 18* timing, 93 oct. I run that untill it get's below 50* and then I run 16* of timing. A/F stays 11.6-11.8 for pump gas ( 93oct )

17* street tune on 91 octane and 20* race tune with the good stuff. Got to love high elevation.

16deg here on 93oct, if use 91 octane she'll ping on the top end and I bump it down to 15deg.

I accidently found out what too much timing was on my truck, 20deg on 93oct, I plug the tip of a spark plug off while at WOT..
