Need advice on launch with 2400 Stall Converter?

Scenario:

With 2400 stall converter, traction is no issue with slicks… is it better to stall to like 2300-2400 and launch or launch from dead idle to get best 60' times?

I have gotten my best times stalling up as high as it goes without breaking the lights. Just try different rpms and compare your 60ft times

With my 2400 stall I launch at about 1600, but I have driven Fomocofans truck who also has a 2400 stall and his truck likes to launch at about 1800 rpms

I am installing a new about 2000-2100 stall converter tuesday so I will have to relearn my launch

George which slicks are you running?????

Why have a 2400 stall if you'll luanching @ 1800?

Can anyone explain the sciance behind the stall converter and how you can benefit from it?

With my FT Total Dom converter, I found between 1800-1900 worked best.

Sorry, I thought I put that in there, its been a long weekend. When I was driving the truck it did the best for me at about 2200, now Shawn (ShockTherapy) drove it a couple times, and launched it from 2400 or so he said. and actually had a little bit better short times that I did.

Some converters and vehicles run best if you flash the converter by launching at less than full stall. Thuis technique allows the converter to build some momentum by building revs quickly before it lock and thus get a sling shot effect. I get best reaction times fully stalled and best 60's by flashing. Starting fully stalled eliminates the spool/lag time for the converter to spool up.

I launch between 1600-1800 with a PI converter. My best 60's have come from that method. I've tried flashing it from an idle and running it all the way up to 2100-2200 but it's always inconsistent. Just play around different techniques. Everyone's truck is going to react differently so just find out what your truck likes.

I agree. But as long as the slicks will hold.

My best 60ft (1.65) came from an 1900-2000rpm launch (slicks would turn over if given more)
