so i have another question. i had my truck up for sale when the motor went out. its a black 2000 with 35,000 miles on it. it think it blue books around 18,000. but if i have a new stock motor in it, its gotta be worth more, but how much more? im thinking of adding the price of the motor & S/C minus a thousand. so like 22,000 - 23,000. does that sound about right?

If the new motor comes with a 3/36 warranty you might be able to get a little more for it. You have to remember the truck is 5 years and 35,000 miles old. While that is low miles for a truck that age there are 03’s and 04’s with much less mileage getting around $24k - $25k, sometimes more.

I think you would be doing good to get $18k you might get more if you’re willing to wait it out. Bottom line with any vehicle is your only going to get what someone is willing to pay…

 

if you have not yet done so, suggest a search on autotrader.com. Gives you an idea on what the market will bear in your zip code/state. Just as an example: got an '01 in SoCal for $19K (solid service history, 2 past owners, clean CARFAX/OASIS reports, 40K miles, ******* tonneau, bed rug, JBA headers/maggy mufflers, 4 brand new tires/brakes)
