Keyed!
Can anything short of repainting the whole truck work when someone has keyed your black lightning (both sides and the tail gate)? Through the paint in many places. Any advice? Im not a very happy camper.
That is my absolute nightmare. I visit my girlfriend often on weekends in an apartment complex, and I run out their every morning to check the L hoping some idiot wasn't having a bad day. I'm so sorry that happened to you, and I certainly empathize with you.

Calightnin, can't help with the technical on that but, want you to know that for every jerk out there that would do that there are hundreds here that have empathy for you.
Peace, my friend.

Sorry about what happened to your truck. Man if I would have caught that dumba$$ i would have strangled him! As far as the damage goes, you will be alot happier just having the whole truck repainted. My cousin paints for a living and that is what he does when the whole vehicle has been keyed. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your truck man. I do have a High Power Rifle with a night scope if you find out who did it, and you feel like a little payback! Just goes to show that what other people cant have they feel a need to destroy. Personally, turnabout is fair play!!!!
Man,that really blows! Something like that would just make me sick to my stomach. Must have been a jealous Chevy owner. I would definitely get it repainted. I hope you catch the guy.

Caligtnin,
My deepest sympathy and condolences, some body should get a rope, I got a tree.
I would suspect that most paint shops will tell you that they can match the paint, and the color isn't that tough, but the texture of the orange peel will never be right. You'll have all kinds of refractive lines around the repairs. If you can swing it, paint the whole truck.
Insurance company will require some convincing, but it can be done.

One thing to think about if you do decide to repaint the truck.. It will then be a re-paint and if you ever try to sell it or trade it, some may think it has been wrecked. Take some pictures of the key marks and save all receipts just so you'll have documentation to show and prove the actual real damage that was done.
I've doctored some key scratches in the past and done pretty well. Maybe you can find someone that is really really good and reputable, then you could go that route so the truck can keep it's "factory paint" status.
As far as the Insurance company is concerned, you can get them to pay for the paint, isn't that why we buy insurance? You just have to play hard-ball better than they do.
Good Luck

CALIGHTNING ~
I Sorry. That sucks, I know because I just got my truck back about a month ago because some jerk keyed my right front fender. Not much you can do but have it repainted but what I would suggest is that you call your dealership and ask who they use as their body shop. Call that shop and explain the situation and that they came highly recommended by your dealer. After calling 5 shops here and then talking to my dealership and calling their guys the price came down from what I had been getting almost $150. Since then the owner of the shop and I have become buddies and he is going to be doing the Cowl hood for me here soon and had cut me a really good deal. Also, what helped me when it happened was that I believe what goes around comes around and I think the person that did it to mine will get theirs and they better pray that I never find out who they are or I'll turn my Rotts loose.

Man...that stinks!!! I hate hearing about this stuff. Why is it that people take great joy in ruining the happiness of others....it's all jealousy. I think this is one of those fears that we all have....goodness knows everytime I go to a mall, it is always in the back of my mind. Hopefully all can be repaired back to new!

hey very sorry to hear that. I went through that a few years ago. I pulled into a cir K to get a wet napkin to get some bird doodoo off the top of my car (I was that particular about how it looked). As I was pullin in there were 2 "kids" getting into a chevy pickup that had the clavin pissing on Ford. Didnt think anything of it, went in got wet napkin (30 secs) came back out & my beatuful mustang was keyed ALL around. Well after talking to a few people I found a place called Hamiltons Restorations. He only works on older "race cars", but he did an excelent job of fixing it. My mustang was a light metallic green, but he matched it perfectly, you couldnt tell that it had been painted (the keyed places) AT ALL. And that was about 4 years after the car was made, so was probably a little harder to match the paint.
Oh ya he was also the one that "fixed" my little booboo when I lost control in the rain. Had a 'stormin normin' hood installed, (PERFECT match on the paint) since I had to replace the hood & front end after I hit a wall.
