Ran the Lightning at the track last night...

First time for me too

Black 99' Lightning

mods:C&L MAF with K&N filter,Bassani cat-back,Superchips MAX micro tuner on performance tune with stock shift pressure, and I did the "boost bypass".

I cant get a good image with my scaner,so Ill have to type them out.It was at Sunshine Dragstrip (1/8 mile).

1st run (ever):

R/T .668 (on a .500 tree)
60' 2.095
330' 5.952
1/8 9.075
mph 79.14

2nd run:

R/T .712
60' 2.087
330' 5.945
1/8' 9.078
mph 78.96

3rd run:

R/T .714
60' 2.070
330' 5.946
1/8 9.089
mph 78.65

It has the stock type Goodyear tires on it,and it was hot out.I also had my dad in the passenger seat,so 200+ extra pound didnt help either .

Basicly,I want to work on my R/T and see if I can get the e.t. lower.

But not to bad for first time, huh?

Your reaction time shouldn't have anything to do with your E.T. Most people will tell you to work on your 60' times I believe 1.8xxx, maybe lower, on F1s is possible. Also if you want a best you should try running alone with a little less weight. Other than that, Good Run!

Yea,but it sure is nice to tree the other person

My truck is supposed to have the 3.55 gears and I dont have any traction mods.

The next mods I was looking to do was a 4.10 gear and drag radials and slapper bars.

Not to bad considering the heat and weight.

I would suggest some long tube traction bars instead of the slappr bars.

And btw: If you only running at a 1/8th mile track I too would go for a steep set of gears.

I second the long bars, also what could be looked at instead of gears is a set of 26" slicks. heck get both! 4.11's with 26" tires that's like what, 4.5X gears. that'll launch like a beast out of the hole!

Yea,but I will be DD this truck to remember,so I think the 4.10 would be enough.

And I dont know about the slicks, can you get them to fit the stock lightning wheel,I think its a 18"?

I was thinking about Nitto's or BFG drag radials, what about them?

Also,do you think doing any kinda burn ou would help?

All thous runs I just gave it a quike dry hop.

As for launching, first run I just mashed the gas,the others I foot breaked it a little.

Good luck on the DR's

I have Nitto's on the stock rims. They are lower profile than stock so they look smaller. I have an extra set of stock rims and I swap the rear to the Nitto's before I go to the track or if we are leaving out for some street racing. As for slicks, your best bet is to get 16" rims and mount a set of slicks on them the taller slick on a smaller wheel will not change the way your truck sits and will make a huge difference in you ET. My quick ET on DR's is 8.04 and heres a link of a run against a cobra on Nitrous at a recent street car shoot out.
