Speedworld, AZ Saturday Jan 8th
Thanks to Yoda I discovered that there was a tenative plan for a few of us Arizona boys to see eachother at Speedworld. For what it's worth I'll be there this Saturday morning around 9:00 when the gates open.
Jim (JRW67) and Don (Yoda) will you be there? How about you Peter B? If you all can't make it I'll be heading to Firebird Friday night instead. Let me know.
Jim, I have not been to Speedworld yet (for me Firebird is much closer). How long after gates open do they typically start running? Does it make sense at all to arive before 9:00am to speed up the tech process?
Thanks...... Joel

I guess it's official..... with just one reply I'll be there.
Don, I'm looking forward to see your new gages and the painted calipers. I also have a new addition that you'll have to wait to see. Theoretically my addition should provide some performance improvement.... but we'll have to see what the 1320ft lie detector says.
Jim, two more question for you. Does Speedworld have scales? Are the scales open the whole day?
Thanks....... Joel

Peter,
The web site that Yoda posted ( http://WWW.SPEEDWORLDMOTORPLEX.COM ) is a very good one. It has all the direction information you need. I'll be there between 8:30 and 9:00. But Yoda's idea for breakfast sounds good. What do you think?
Don,
no new meats. And if you do beat me just remember I probably twice as much as you. Soooo bring your wife and run with her as the driver and you as the passenger.... then it should be a fair race
. Where should we meet for breakfast?
Jim,
since you live out that way, where should we meet for breakfast? Could you meet us for breakfast too? Love the idea of a Lightning convoy to the track.

Guys this is sounding better and better. I'll check northern weather conditions tomorrow and let you guys know. If I go, the breakfast sounds good. I'll have to be at the back of the convoy with a sticker on my ride that says "prototype yellow 2000 Lightning"

Im not sure if you like Waffle House (I do)but there is one on I17 & Bell. Since we can take Bell all the way 2 Grand (US60) it will be a straight shot from there. If we do meet for breakfast we would need to meet around 7:00 , that way we could be @ the track by 8:30-9:00ish. Sorry cant bring my wife she works Sat. I know I have a weight advantage over you also
I'm not sure Jim wil get this message, he doesnt seem to respond much. Jee I hate to be mean Peter, but I hope the weather isnt good for you so you go to the track with us. Hey, got a great idea, you can stop by Bell Ford & say you wanna take the used Lightning out for a spin, but you need to show your wife & it takes a few hours to do that. hehe

Ok that's enough of you Arizona guys! lol I lived there for a year or so in 93-94 and I know how good the weather is there right now. You all are just making the rest of us just too jealous talking about going to the strip!! But seriously, let everybody know how it goes at the track. I guess it is getting somewhat cool at night there this time of year, huh? 70's during the day?
Later fellas,
Collin

Yoda and Peter,
The Waffle House @ I17 & Bell @ 7:00am sounds good! Since this is my pride and joy I always park out a distance (door dings and all) so if you get there before me find a couple of spaces out in the boonies so we can park together.
Peter,
Your welcome to a ride after I get a good run. Since Yoda’s not bringing his wife, maybe you could be his passenger to weigh him down to make a fair race
.
Zonaman,
I didn’t mean to exclude you either or any other lurking Arizonan. Speedworld is on the north side of Sun City, about an hour closer than Firebird from Prescott if you take the Yarnell route (it’s just south of Wittmann).
Collin,
I suffered all summer while you guys were posting some great times
(even at night our lows were in the 90’s). Wish us luck.

COUNT ME IN...
Sorry for the slow reply,I was out last night.
JoeLightning...I've never been to a day race but the night race starts right on time.Tech has never taken me very long, just fill out the card and they have a quick look at your vehicle.I'm not sure if they have scales at the track.
Won't be able to make breakfast but will see you guys there at 9a.m.
Does anyone plan to race?I'll probably run time only.
I must say this is cruel to talk about going to the track when many of our other members'trucks are hibernating right now.

Great news Jim. See ya at 9:00am. I only plan to get times but if I seem consistent I try and do the bracket racing thing.

BTW The track runs from North to South so you might need sunglasses or a tinted visor with the sun so far south this time of year. Be sure to bring a pen to fill out your tech card.

Ok guys, just watched the weather, nothing in the forecast. So, count me in! Look forward to meeting all of you. I'll be at Waffle house before 7. Is it on Bell and is it west or east of I-17?
Yoda, I see you are in need of a helmet. What size helmet do you where? I have plenty of Snell full face helmets, I can bring one for you.
Should I bring my camcorder? Almost forgot, I also will bring my Vericom VC200.
