BADASSSVT or anyone question about 93-95 Lightning
A while back I posted a question about what to expect to pay for a 93-95 Lightning. BADASSSVT you told me my best bet would be a dealer or at an auction. Aren’t dealers only allowed to go to auctions? I live in Mass and my everyday driver died yesterday and I don't want to drive my 93 Cobra around. I don't have unlimited funds but do need another vehicle. Does anyone know of any 93-95 Black or White Lightning’s for sale around the east coast for under $12,000 with a reasonable amount of miles? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
John

Hi, I am the one who replied last time. I dont know of any right now. My best advice is to find one at a dealership or even better look in the "AUTO HUNTER"MAGAZINE. The reason i say to find one at a dealer is 2 reasons.First, dealers can usually pick up these trucks for reasonable money at auction. These trucks along with other special vechicles are usually a "higher risk" to buy because you have to find the right buyer.Dealers take this into concideration when buying and believe me most dealers think alike. It is alot easier to find a buyer for a 1995 escort 4dr automatic than a lightning.Second, If a truck is found private sale , the owner of this type of vechicle usually has an emotional attachment to the truck, so he thinks it is worth more than it really is.Dealers want to make some money then reinvest in another vechicle (probally 6 95 escort 4drs)get what i am saying? Some dealers ask outragous prices for these trucks just to see if the right buyer is out there. But if he thinks you are a solid buyer you would be surprised at what you can talk him down. Just make sure he thinks you are interested, because if he doesnt, he wont bother dropping the price just to get rid of you.But dont act to emotional either , then he knows he has you by the nuggets.I shouldnt tell you this but i will anyway.I saw a red lightning go thru QUINCY AUTO AUCTION about 2 years ago with low low low miles and it did less 10k dollars.A good 50k mile 94-95 lightning should cost the consumer between 10k-12k. But there is one thing.Latley these trucks are climbing in value do to the publicity the new ones are getting.I would wait 1 year and you will be able to find them under 10k all day long. I hope you can use this information.OH YEA I saw a 99.5 black lightning go thru QUINCY auction back in august with 3k miles on it with scratches all over it .It did $28,000+ $350 in auction fees. Its about supply and demand.Where do you live in mass? i live right near HAMPTON BEACH right over the border.

John,
$12K for a '93 or '94 in decent condition should be reasonably simple to do. You may check some of the online classifieds (the firewall here at work prevents me from being able to do so). Pristine trucks will typically cost $14K and I know someone with a very nice '94 truck (just not in the north east) with extras that would sell it for $12K.
Later!

Thanks for all of the info Badasssvt. I live in the Easton/Taunton area of Mass it is South of Boston. My buddy is a dealer and I think I will ask him to keep his eyes open. If I did not have any payments still left on the 93 Cobra then I would be all set to buy a 99 or 00 Lightning but I love the cobra too much to give it up.
Oh, you have my favorite cobra ever made. I love that style dont tell me it is teal , i might come up there and steal it from u . LOL LOL .Next time your in the hampton beach area look for a white lightning N.H BADSVT with a cobra f1 hood and factory chrome wheels.
