My bedrails, mirrors, and grille were black from the factory. The grill faded a little giving it a dark grey look in bright sunlight. A little armor-all will go a long way to fixing that, guys. However, when my truck was in the body shop last, I had them spray both the engine grille and intercooler grille with black clearcoat to match my paint job. It looks very mean now.

Guy's
I'm the one who started the whole grey "grill thing", and mine was undoubtably gray. I am a bit miffed that most came w/ black grills,I even took my truck to the dealership to get instructions on how to pull the main grill piece of to paint it. The guy in the body shop said it had to be painted right on the truck. The bottom piece came right off so no prob there. The main piece I masked off and away I went.Looks pretty good too.I still wish it just would've came black.

Nope. My grill top/bottom is no doubt grey. My mirrors are black. My bed rails are grey. My side steps are black. deffinately grey. No fade because my vehicle hasn't been in the sun much.

I just had a look at my truck, since the new year the whole thing turned grey. My paint wasn't Y2k compliant... I got mine on the 25th of September and the grill matches. Ey your grills may be grey, but we've got the fastest color lightnings on the street!

Question

If anybody actually gets an explanation from Ford or SVT as to why some are black and some are grey I'd sure like to hear it.I had no idea the can of worms I was opening up! Now that mine has been painted do you think I can still get a factory black from Ford just because?

Badasssvt,
I am not talking SILVER grill,it was charcoal gray.If it's Fords idea of "black" than their idea sux.The red L's and white L's are far darker than mine was, their's are black, mine was charcoal gray. It's basically a moot point now that I painted it black to match the rest of the truck, but when i brought this all up I was in the right when I said it was "gray",I never said silver, you did Anyway...

Thank you for who ever turned me in. I really appreciate it.I was just trying to get a point across in a joking matter. But,i know i am not "known" in a personal matter so i am turned in. let me tell you all something. i like this board vey much, it is the most knowledgable staff of lightning owners anywhere, and is filled with nice people. I will also tell you that in the last month, i have witnessed on 3 occasions somebody also using profanity.NOT ONE PERSON SAID ANYTHING TO them!!!.i also know these are well known people so nobody would want to turn them in.Lets put this to an end and i hope all of you with grey grilles have 75 extra hp in your motors, that is if you can tell the difference.lol
