Lightning Didn't Start
Looking for response for the following: After a hand care wash, I inserted the key and turned it to start. All I got as a response was a buzzing noise that I could also feel vibrating like an impact wrench. The noise and vibration came from the center firewall area. I tried this three times before stopping. I pulled out the key climbed out and opened the hood. Nothing was amiss, so I climbed back in, inserted the key and the truck started right up as normal. It hasn't done this before or since. Any IDEAS? Thanks

It kind of sounds like the starter trying to engage and couldn't quite mesh gears...

No, What I think it was is inside our keys there is alittle chip that has a code and when you put the key into the "slot" it sends the code and the computer gets it and if they match it will fire up, what i think haoppened the code was not read right by not full insertion of the key or something and the second time it send the code right. The reason why I think this is becasue when I bought my truck I had the dealer make 2 extra copys of the keys and i was there while they did it, they do it by puting one of the 2 master keys in and turn just so it turns on, then they take it out then put the other one in and do the same thing, then they put in to key to be copyed and turned it on and that sends the code to the key, well there was some confusion on how to make the 2nd copy and they fianally figuered it but while it did not work the truck acted leike it was to start but would not turn over.
It sounds like you have a bad battery connection. The new Ford high torq starters take a very good connection to work. This problem is very evident on Exploders. The battery probably got wet. Try cleaning the cable connections.

All fords are notorious for very picky charging systems. everything has to be about perfect for a ford to start properly.yet i have jump started chevys before with speakerwire, no kidding. when your desperate you will find some way.
