Chimshadys back again!!!!!!
Chimshadys back again!!!!!!
First i would like to thank Sal from Power Surge Performance for lending me the tools to do the right job and always there to answer my questions. Charles from Magnum Powers for the valve info. Rich and George from Precision Cylinder Head Service for doing some grate work on my heads. Suavy for some helpfull hints and all those for incourageing words . Thanx guys!! Its been almost a year now it seems since ive had some head gasket issues. I did all the work myself with what litle time i had .For those who havent done a head gasket on these i can tell you its one pain in the azz.Today i took her out for its maiden voyage and man did it feel good to be behind the drivers seat again . Its running so good and strong , as Rob would say WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Hopefully ill be able to get it on the dyno again and to the track soon. I made some minor changes this time around like having the springs shimmed for more seat pressure, ported the lower intake and gaskets more, and knife edegd the throttle body blade and cut down those pesky screws in it. Hopefully more airflow will mean more power. Im hoping to put down near the 600 hp range. Last time we got 541 at 17.5 lbs of boost ,now im seeing 21.5 so i think its likely. Ill keep everyone informed .
Heres a list of mods;
JLP Built lower
Jlp stage 2 cnc heads with ferera oversized valve 3 angle job, comp springs with increased seat pressure, stage 2 comp cams.
Self ported lower and upper intake and gaskets, plenum
Magnum powers blower with 2.7 upper and 8lb metco lower
60 lb injectors and upgraded pumps
Breathing trough a knife edeged accufab and JLP ram air setup
Home made electric fan setup and mezier electric water pump
Gates belts and metco idler setup
Dynatech long tubes, high flow cats and a pair of cherrybombs(Dont laugh its one of the baddest azz lightnings youll hear.lol..)
JLP Drive shaft loop, trction bars and 28 inch hoosiers screwed to some centerline billets.
Line mod valve
Home made supercooler in the bed
Intercoller pump switch, fan switch and a line lock setup
That pretty much wraps it up except for the usual guage and interior mods. As soon as we get some nice weather round hear ill post some pics.

I bought a set of Stage 3 Crower cams & springs added long tubes and an up graded fuel system. Well instead of gaining HP I lost it? I talked to Crower and after about 3 phone calls they finally admitted there might be some issues with the cams.
However, now I have to do a compression test and degree the cams send them the data and they will tell me what my options are from there.
I have talked to several people but most shops take an assembled short block from a machine shop and a set of heads from another shop put a head gasket in the middle and call it their built engine. So asking them how to trouble shoot my problem has drawn a blank to say the least.
I have every internal and bolt on a Lightning owner could want if I ever get it dialed in look out!
