Hi!
Last year (Sept. 98 thats when I order my Lightning) I bounce the idea of doing a port and polish job to the heads and intake off of some of the (insiders) Ford guys. Their comments were that if I wanted to **** my money and time away to go have at it. I still think that the idea has merit and with some high performance coatings to the heads, intake and the inside of the exhaust headers you will see some performance enhancements. I know that these things work and I have done them to my other vehicles for the past four years. Give it a try and remember it is not cheap.
PS. Information on performance coatings http://swaintech.com/ ------------
One other item and I don't see anyone asking for this. A high performance intercooler(read that as low restriction)and I am refering to the one mounted under the intake manifold. Yes it may require a trade off but that is the price you pay in the quest for power.

I agree with you about the intercooler.A bigger intercooler with more volume will be alot more efficient+more power. Porting the head on a forced induction motor is not really neccessary due to the fact you are cramming as much air as possible already with the supercharger. You might be able to change your flow map but by porting the head i wouldnt expect a big change in power. The intercooler is the way to go for a big change. If you do decide to port the head remember bigger is not better. Go as big as you can without losing velocity and you will be okay. On a turbo/supercharged appl. I would drop the floor and roof of the intake and blend at valve bowl. Just give it a clean up if your content on doing this...good luck

I believe that porting can make as much a difference as removing any restriction, assuming the heads are the restriction. I put a Whipple SC on the wife Suburban and it made a significant difference. I then added headers and exhaust and the improvment doubled.

The GN crowd is crazy with porting heads. maybe I'll just do the headers. Hmmmmm.., anyone have cams for these things?

Ford uses small exhaust valves,{more torque}and that will cause a restriction with the out bound..Forced induction can force the air in but it has to get out,not just with bigger pipes. On a blown N2o,Ect.moter out bound is were it's at. Hope this helps
