Snow Stage 2 MAF users

Hey guys,

Do you notice your pump activation light comes on for an instant when you're starting your truck? Supposedly the ECU pulses the MAF on startup with 5 volts.

I've got no problems with it running straight ethanol but am about to switch to Snow's boost juice and am wondering if you've had any issues with this "feature" and 50/50 water/methanol?

Thanks for any input

Can't help with your question, but would also like to hear about experiences with the special "nitro" mix.

Thanks Jay! I'm also running denatured alcohol but want to try water/meth. Snow said that denatured alchy burns hotter in the combustion chamber.

Have you tried the water/meth at all?

Thanks

Yeah, they keep saying that but I have no luck with their mix.

You can't run as much timing?

Snow also says that water won't mix right with ethanol.

My A/F is .8 richer with straight ethanol (denatured alchy) and the 375 jet. Are you guys running any kind of lube in your alchy for the pump etc?

I've done a lot of testing with water/meth and denatured.
The easiest to tune with is 100% denatured.

With the 50/50 mix, its easy to flood out the fire if you run too much injector like I did. With denatured, if you fire a little too much, okay you're a bit rich and its easier to just lean the a/f to dial things in.

However, in theory, the best power can be had with 50/50 water and methanol. But, most of us are more octane limited and so that's why I think we get better results with a 100% mixture as opposed to a 50/50 mix. If intercooling is the main desire, then add more water.

I still have more playing around to do. This topic has always been heated though among water/alchy/meth users.

If you are running straight alky, I would highly recomend the use of a lubricant, avaliable at any speedshop for racing alcohol. I think the mix is somewhere around 1 cap lube to five gallons alcohol. I use the Snow kit and I also have the pump pulse on startup- it has been my experience that the feed line to the nozzel drains back to the tank overnight so when my pump pulses it is merely priming the system for use, I have never had any problems. If you are looking for the most horsepower run straight alky. methanol, nitro, ethanol, etc do not mix very well with water. They come out of solution when left sitting for a while, leaving the water at the bottom of the tank = less power. If intercooling is the issue I would not worry about the seperation. Be careful with the timing and the fuel though, have a reputable shop do a dyno tune for both non-injected and injected.

You can hear the pump kick in right before starting it up. No issues with that.

I run 99.9% methanol. The .1% is a dash of Marvel Mystery Oil.

Snow stopped selling the boost juice. However, after experimenting with a 50/50 mix I am going back to straight meth. on my next tune.

That's funny. I talked to them a few weeks ago and said that their mix was no where near as effective on my truck as straight alky and they swore theirs was the way to go. Good to know.

Guys-

Do you get any leaking where the quick disconnects plug into the elbows on the pump? It's driving me crazy!
