Question

Scott:

Can you describe the air box, and ease of installation? I am trying to decide between that one, Sal's or the new one from Airaid. Also, what did you pay? They mentioned a 10% discount on their website, but when I emailed them, they seemed puzzled about that. Thanks

Thumbs up

Hey Skydive, The longer you wait, the chances the price might go up. We have all stated on how simple the installation is. They are both the same style. Sal`s is black, Downs is polished.Just go buy one,you wont regret it!

They all sound like great products. I made a buying decision today after speaking with Roger Lemere. He gave me a real warm and fuzzy feeling regarding his dedication to what he is doing. I ordered the Airaid box. I'm sure the difference between the 3 are probably immeasureable. Actually I had it down to the Downs and the Airaid in that there was no one to speak to about the third product.

Cool

Rob, Just got done installing the air intake. It took me about 15 min including putting the svt emblem of the stock airbox on it. Thanks for the tip about that. I took it for a quick ride at work and do like the sound and feel better performance. I also like the unpainted tubing better than the powder coated one sold elsewere. Thanks Scott

This may be on another thread, but can anybody tell me the real advantages to the pre-filter? I've read up on how it looks, but haven't found, yet, the advantages.

Also, does the Down's Ford intake come with one?

Thanks, in advance.

A pre filter is a rain coat for the filter element. These high performance filters are oiled cotton. The cotton will absorb water and displace the oil. The pre filter keeps the water from reaching the cotton element.

And also keeps the larger particulate matter out of the filter, making it easier to clean. When my pre-filter gets dirty, I just toss it in the washer and let it air dry and put it back on. I also love to watch it breath in and out when I rap the gas from under the hood, a useless but cool side show.
