basically same as sport pkg for99/00 but i guess you can upgrade to a 5.4 now , before you could not.trucks look exactly the same except for decals.

 

oh yea , i think they ALL come with 3.55 rears

 

My 1997 is an STX so they were made other than just 1998. I think the Lariat package has been around many years longer. Also mine is a 4.2 not a 4.6. I like the looks of the color keyed bumpers, which are different type of bumper than the plain chrome ones. Did not know if I would like the 17" wheels but have found the handling excellent and the ride smooth. Many salesmen did not even know what they were. One told me it was a high-performance F-150! Another told me it was to give it a fake 4WD look. It is basically cosmetic! Works for me!

i ordered a 99 sport 5.4 loaded. i already bought the roush tips from the nascar truck, cobra f1 hood and cobra carbon fiber kit for dash and leather wrapped steering wheel. over $800.00 worth of stuff. 2 months later he told me they will not put a 5.4 in a sport. come to find out, somebody on this board has a sport 5.4 i am pretty p.o. about the whole deal. i wanted the sport for a daily driver while the lightning sleeps. now i am stuck driving a slime green vw bug that my wife HAD to have.!!!!!!

 

What is the STX? whats the differances? does it have more power or just cosmetic?

Cosmetic. They used to be the trim level above XLT and were pretty common until the Lariat package showed up. Now its an appearance package designation mostly.

Goes like this (i think)
F150 Sport = XL + Sport Pkg
STX = XLT or Lariat + Sport Pkg

of course, the regular discussion forum might generate a more accurate answer since there are probably more STX owners there.

Here's the deal:
The "SPORT" package replaced the STX package starting in 1999. The package can be ordered with any black, red, white, or silver XL or XLT in many engine combinations. In 99, this package included the argent 4X4 grill, color keyed bumpers and mirrors, 3.55 axle ratio, and the infamous sport decals. Also, 2WD XLT Sports got P275/60R17 OWL tires on 17" cast aluminum rims, while 4WD XLT Sports got P265/70R17 All terrain OWL tires. For 2000, a leather wrapped steering wheel and unique sport cloth was added to the package. The current code for the option is 94S (XL) and 94T (XLT). It is not available in the 157" wheelbase.
