Any benefit to changing upper blower pulley??

Are there any benefits to changing the upper pulley if I am going to run either a 4# or 5# lower crank pulley?? And if so, what size upper should I run with a 4# or 5# lower??

yeah, you get more boost

Haha no but seriously if you're going to change the upper, you're probably going to want to add an aux. idler setup to reduce belt slippage. As for what size, it depends on your other mods/tune/what you want out of it.

i would just pick the lower for the boost you want anf forget about the upper. if you shrink the upper you have to worry about belt slippage

ok I'll be the one to disagree with everyone

On my first Eaton, the Wasp, the Mag, The Wasp Gen II, and the Mag again,
I ALWAYS prefered and ran an upper and lower combo

A smaller upper along with a larger lower WILL result in FASTER boost
Another words 4+2 may be the same as a 6 lower (or so some think)
but you will always boost up faster with the 4+2 compared to the 6 only.
Many have argued this over the years, but I've seen and experienced it
first hand on the many Diff Superchargers that have been on my L.
You truly can not believe how IMMEDIATE you boost up with a smaller upper.
Call it less rotational mass, a lighter pulley, less drag, WHATEVER
But it is a fact.

AMOF I'm having a custom pulley made for the Mag as we speak and I'm hoping they can go smaller than 2.7, I'm also hoping to have them make me
a larger lower ring than the 9-7/8" I currently run.

BOOST IS OUR FRIEND, and the faster I can use it, the better.....

Rob, I bought my 2.69 upper from JDM back when I got my Mag.

God Bless,

Thanks Suavy, thats prob what I have also, I just always called it a 2.7
I'm having a NON SLIP pulley made and hope to be able to go smaller still...
For what ever reason the Eaton doesnt slip with a 2.7 upper, but the Mag does A LOT.

Jim

I am just waiting on a few measurements, and then it'll be made
(prob in the next few weeks) I'm trying to go smaller than 2.7 (if possible)
I'll find out a $ for you, I got to assume after the proto type, (mine)
the cost will be cheaper.

I want it in Billet, now I have too much Black under the hood
but I have a few goodies to put on over the winter that'll fix that (or sooner).....

Here's a benefit.. you dont have to lay on the ground to change an upper, but you do if you change a lower..

Thanks.
