oil in the inercooler....

cleaned the inercooler this weekend. it was as dirty as I thought it would be after driving for 83,xxx miles. it was a great learning experience but dont really want to do it again. i did a little research and found that taking the PCV system out will allow "0" oil into the inercooler area. but it was a post from last year. has there been any new info on if this is still a good idea or not. if not please let me know if there is another alternative to keeping oil out of the inercooler area.

thanks
kurt

I certainly hope so because that's exactly what I did to my truck yesterday.

I've had 3 breathers for 2 years and never noticed any smell. But I also change my oil about every 500 miles or so - so there's not much build up of any combustion byproducts in the oil which you will get more of when eliminating the PCV system.

this is a very bad act, the oil does not have time to collect any contaminates that are in the engine
you really should stick to 3000 miles
2000 at the very least
