finally made it to the track with mods

well, i got to the track today. I had just under an hour to run. I cooled down after drving to the track and put down a 12.98 @ 105.x. funny thing was when i started, my radio fell out so I was holding that in one hand and riving with the other, about half way I realized I still had pedal left (I wondered why it shifted early).

After that run it was not good. to much hot lapping with zero cool down. The line was changing everytime I went up to launch. I was launching @ 1200rpm and got a mix of spin and hooks from different trips to the line. I always do a good burnout, so it wasnt water. I would say it was track temp and street tires.

BUT, I did manage to pull out a 12.86 @ 106.63. My truck needs a driver mod though. Most of my 60' times were worse than stock. My best run was my best 60' with a 1.866 (best stock 60' was a 1.90)

I told myself if I hit 12.8x I would be happy, but I am not. I know the truck has 1.80 60's in it in its current trim. I guess I should be happy though. I ran 12.86 on a very safe street tune on street tires. I think it could do 12.5x with a race tune and slicks. 12.67-12.70 on slicks and street tune.

Oh, my reaction times are way better now for some reason. I had 3 out of 5 runs with a .134, .136, .131. Thats probably why my 60's suck. I was paying to much attention to the lights and not the truck.

Chris
ps, I beat everyone that lined up next to me today. I had never beat anyone till today.

do yourself a favor and get rid of the flowmaster one chambers.. i had them on my 03 and the backpreasure they were creating at high rpms was insane, so much that it was enough for me as the driver to feel it.. get a good quality cat-back and notice the difference between a restrictive exhaust and free flow..

I got rid of my magnaflow catback for this setup. Hated the magnaflow sound in the hi rpms. Not willing to spend the cash for the other systems out there.

I dont see how they create that much backpreasure though, theres nothing to them. I never felt a thing when they went on. Sound on the other hand...

Cant dispute your claim, but I personally have not felt the same thing. For me its my oil covered intercooler puting the screws to me. 1 1/4 mile run and my IAT 2 was 141 and IAT 1 was 54 (only had a 15 minute cool down after a 1 hour drive to the track) that was from the first run posted above. 43k miles and its never been cleaned. That alone is costing me a great deal.

I have the flowmaster american thunder myself
That SOB is so loud I cant see how it can create backpressure
but I would someday like to try a dual muffler set up myself....
Hostile, you should buy me one

hostile, just curioius how you determined this excessive backpressure. i was under the impression the delta series 10 flows (race mufflers) were very free flowing?

I ran flow master for about 2 years and loved them. I only changed to the Magnaflow cuz I got a smoking deal on them. I do think the Magnaflow sounds wimpy though! The flowmasters use to set off alarms in the parking lot left and right!

God Bless,

Suavy
