suspension

hey guys, I was wondering what suspension mods will help my 60 ft time. i have a stock suspension besides my 58" traction bars. I also use dr's. I don't want to run slicks since i dont' drag race enough to make them worth while to me.

I'm just looking for something that will make it hook better and not hurt the normal ride of the truck. Will lowering it help at all? Or should i just get some QA1's and call it good

thanks

Food for thought,
Keep an eye on the classifieds, I got my slicks and rims (screwed and tubed) for $250. But you'll need a driveshaft loop to run them.

suspension wise?
Check the angle of your driveshaft

Read Sal's post on pinion angle and hooking at the track.

Also, I just cut the best 60' Ever on my truck 1.7x, but I'm not sure if it's due to the 4.10's I installed or the strange engineering racing shocks. I know when It shifts into 2nd and bottoms out the rear suspension, I have something working well. NO tire chirp at all. Probably wrinkled the sidewalls on the slicks.

Im running the strange shocks like l-menace. You can pick them up from jeg's for $69 a piece, but you'll have to use drop shackles with them. When im at the track i run M/T et streets, no front sway bar, and with my shocks i cut a 1.69-1.75 depending of track prep. The shocks made a big difference before with stock 99 shocks i was only in the 1.85 range.

2" drop shackles be alright? are you setting the shocks hard or you going the soft route?

went out to check the angle difference of the rear to the drive shaft ,on the rear there is that support rib thats on the pumpkin thats directly in line with the center of the pinion put the angle finder on there and got 4deg the drive shaft on the fat part was 6 deg with the truck siting on the ground. so is that a neg-2 ?

Yes you will need 2" drop shackels if you have a 99-2002. 2003-2004 sit up higher in the rear so youll need a 3" drop shackel. I have my shocks set up stiff when i go to the strip. I start of at 6 then adjust to the track. The drop shackles will give you a negative pinion angle wich is good it prevents stress on the driveshaft on hard launches. Ive never used DR but i know you need to heat the crap out of them. I use a line loc from sal and if made burn outs a breeze. I have M/t Et streets and run them at 16lbs of air and adjust if i need to. I lauch from about 800rpms and then just mash it. Ive dynoed at 410/516 so i think with your power level your over powering your dr. If you have QA-1's all around set the front up soft and the rear stiff. Like 3 up front and 8 rear.

thanks for that info kev , but from what i was thinking if i have 4deg angle on the pinoin and 6 deg on the shaft , i should already have a -2 angle with out drop shackels. so if i add the 2'' drop shackels how much more neg pinion angle will i have . did you ever check you angle to see what the 2'' drop shackels gave you? thanks

I-menace i can't PM you so i am gonna ask it in the thread. I've read every post i can find where you talked about the strange shocks. I know they are meant for mustangs, and meant for drag racing. I was wondering how they act on the street compared to stock, and if you happened to have towed with them. If so how did they do? I don't plan on towing but i was just wondering incase i have to at some point.
