Has anyone tried to convert the fog lights so they can be operated without having to turn on the headlights?

I've thought about running a switch to the headlight control and splice it into the foglight wire.

I've checked the local laws and as long as the lights are not above 32" high it is ok to run them alone.

I've seen Dakota R/T's with the parking lamps on and the fog lights on and it looks really good.

I don't know why Ford does this. All other cars I've owned let you turn the fog lights on independently from the headlights.
