Cool Texas Highway Patrol F-150

The Texas State Highway Patrol has evidently started using F-150 extended cab pick-ups in the DFW area. I saw one this morning sans radar gun just north of Ft.Worth on I-35W. Anybody know anything about it?

Sixpipes,

Yep, I saw him on I-20 the last time I was up there. There are also two running around the NW side of Houston. I have also seen Harris, Ft. Bend, Montgomery, & Brazoria Co. Sherrif's deputies driving them. Some are 4WD and some aren't. They're kind of hard to spot until it's too late. Only one I have seen so far has had a lightbar on it.

Cool

those are some cool looking trucks..i watched one from my office window the other day (i-10 west & hwy 6). he was doing a roadside inspection of a 18 wheeler. i think they are part of the 18 wheeler crackdown that is going on in the houston area..personally i think they would look a lot nicer if they were black lightnings like yours wyldman..but we would probably have to pay for them...

The San Antonio police department uses both Ford Explorers and F-150s. The explorers are used by the evidence department and the F-150s are primarily K-9 units. Dunno about troopers though.

I was told by a fellow trooper that I frequently talk to, said that these F-150's main purposes are to pull over tractor trailer rigs and any other large trucks to check their load weight.....scales in bed of truck.....he also told me not to worry when you see them unless you are spotted near him in a large truck, or if im pulling a ragged over weighed trailer w/ my Lightning and the trailer tires smoking! haha

The Orange County Sheriff's Dept. here in Orlando uses F-150's also. (In addition to their Crown Vic's, Mustang's, Harley's, Sea Do's, speed boats, bicycles, etc.)
