Johnny Lightning at Beech Bend
Johnny Lightning at Beech Bend
I was at Beech Bend in Bowling Green today and saw Johnny Lightning make a run.
I didn't stay long enough to watch all the races so I only saw him make one run. But he did a 10.3x at 130 something. Still preaty sweet.
Video of the run. (Warning - 19.5MB)

Granted I think Johnny is waiting on a bigger and badder setup, but running at each NMRA even still gets his name out there.

Didn't JLP add the Back-Half because his truck was twisting the frame or something like that? I recall reading that months ago (last year some time)
But my question is, aren't the frames supposed to flex? Wasn't that the big deal when JEEP came out with a UNIBODY off-road SUV (Cherokee) people were concerned that the body wouldn't flex being unibody, and it would crack during off roading?
I've done a frame up restoration of a '68 Chevy truck, and that frame would flex like crazy. One guy at each end could torsionally bend that frame no problem, and the rivets ad all the cross mounts were installed and tight.
I know you have far more adjustability in the 4 link that he installed and for the speed he's aiming for he'll need a 25.X cage.
But I guess my concern is with Scott Dunn (BIG RED) It has the power to run 9's, but isn't back halfed. Would there be a possibility of Big Red's Frame twisting?

I dont think I'd be concerned with the frame twisting. JLs truck MAY HAVE tweaked the frame, but I guarantee its not worse than 99.99% of the fox body mustangs.
Scotts truck has other problems he's working out of it but it will most likely be in the 9s, without backhalving.
My truck is another one that will be in the 9s... Once I get the motor work done and caged.

I just hope the Check Driver light is off for his next pass.

Keep it up!!
