One good SVT deserves another
Yes I have to agree with you, the SVT Contour is an awesome 4 door car. It has the smoothest 6cyl I have ever driven IMHO. I was very reluctant to trade my 98 in for my 99 L, but I could not aford both
It was the best, bar none, car that I have ever had. If the SVT version was the regular version of the Contour then they would have easily sold hundreds of thousands of then to the detrement of the european import sedan market
Put some good winter tires on it and you will ahve yourself the best "winter beater" around, until it's time to take the L out in the spring. It's a great winter car with good tires.
I found it also got a lot more attention then then a lot of other cars as well, although a BMW M3 did catch me off gaurd and it was all I could do to keep up to him. I hope I find that guy again now that I have my L
Enjoy the ride it is sweet indeed. I would easily recomend the car to anyone who need 4 doors.

I've been so impressed with the Lightning that I decided to buy a Contour SVT as well. Best 15K for a car I ever spent. Feels and drives like a fwd BMW IMHO. Now, which car to spend what on???
Zonaman, congrats on the new car. Ya to if you can beleive I alsmost bought one of those cars over a Lightning. Not that I had ever driven yet, just the prices are so great for them right now. Anyways they are buildning one up in MM&FF in like the past 2 isssues, I can hold them for you & when I get to see you , you can have them. Lots of good info on how to soup them up.

Zonaman, My wife drives a 96 SE V6 5-speed, it was mine before we bought the truck. I love to drive it, that little V6 kicks ***. Check out www.contour.org no message board but a good site. They list a bunch of links to places that sell performance parts for Contours. First mod I did on mine was to remove the resonator / xtra muffler and replace the factory muffler(s) with a Flowmaster(s). Check out Kurtz Kustomz www.kustomz.com they make a great K&N conical filter kit, and check out www.squiresautosport.com
