My experiences usually are closer to 15 miles than 5. Just got another one yesterday.

But anyway, just wanted to say one thing about the R/T. Stock, any lightning will obliterate one. However, they are normally aspirated and have much more growth room than our trucks. Put a supercharger/nitrous/real tires on that truck and its lighter weight and higher displacement are going to have an effect. They are a force to be reckoned with.

 

On another note, I was perusing the R/T site and saw this tidbit in regards to a class action suit against dodge by R/T owners:

" They claimed the company said the sporty truck versions could haul 6,400 pounds when they actually could handle only 2,000 pounds.
In Los Angeles Superior Court, Robert Graham of California and Truman Trekell of Texas said DaimlerChrysler breached a contract with roughly 11,000 Dakota R/T owners by misrepresenting the product.
In June, the automaker notified owners by mail about what it called an error in advertising brochures and owner manuals. In the letter, the company encouraged customers to contact their dealerships or corporate offices if they had questions or comments.
"A mistake was made and we put the wrong towing capacity in our catalogue," said Lou Goldfarb, vice-president and associate general counsel at DaimlerChrysler "We did the responsible thing by promptly notifying owners."

From first-hand experience, I know my L will tow much more than 2K pounds. In fact, I could tow an R/T with me all day long and I doubt my truck would notice the weight.

I have admit that the R/T's look good, but they are a joke as a sports truck to me. I took one for a test drive when I first thought of selling my Typhoon, and LONG before I was even considering getting a Lightning. I thought that the truck had totally gutless acceleration. It also doesn't respond well to road joints, and bumps cause the suspension to become uncomfortably light. If someone doesn't agree, they obviously aren't too in tune to what a vehicle is doing based on it's feel, nor how a "Performance" oriented vehicle should handle.

In all honesty I kinda like the way the mags underrate us. It is much more enjoyable to get the drop on some unsuspecting "my POS car/truck is better than yours" clown. In case they missed it, it says "SVT F150" on the tailgate.
