Lean Code

Do you have an open breather cap on your engine? If so replace it with the stock one and your troubles just might go away....

well i replaced my Single Blade T/B with the stocker and sure enough it worked. WOOO HOOO (had to use it ROB). but it gets me thinking, how could the stocker solve my problem when A) there was nothing wrong with the TPS because when the stock one worked i switched the TPS to the S.B. B) the blade didnt catch on anything so there was nothing holding it open

could the linkage on the side have been the problem the whole time? it seemed to shut the blade and hold it pretty firmly when i looked at it off the truck. or could it be the fact that the stock one isnt allowing enough air in so it is impossible to rev as high as it was?

just asking, right now i dont care because my truck is running a lot better. would it be worth my time to buy a new T/B or do they not help out as much as they say. i dont remember if i got that big of a gain from it because i did it 3 years ago. but if i get atleast 10 hp it would be worth it to me.

thanks for all your help
kurt

I would say your problem is coming from the actual conector on the TPS. I had a similar problem earlier this year soldered a few wires back togethor and was good to go

Tps

My TPS was put on incorrect causing the voltage to be very high at partial throtle causing the transmission to not change and stay in 1st gear. Or maybe it broke when it was changed from the factory TB. Bought a new one and problem was solved.

thats just the thing, it cant be my TPS.

latemodel, if it was the actual connection then the stock TB would be acting up like the SB.

mac02, when the stock TB worked it had the stock TPS that came on it originally. when i bought the SVO single blade it came with another TPS. so when i found out that the stock TB worked, i switched the TPS off of that and put it on my SB and it was still acting up.

and about the power gains, any idea if its worth my time?

thanks

Well, my problems were solved for a little while. The SES came back on and threw a Bank 1 Sys Lean and Bank 2 Sys Lean code again. But atleast the drivability is much better. The truck doesn't hold the RPM's high anymore when i accelerate enough to generate boost. It idles better, but has a little popping in the exhaust like before when the RPM's drop down and then come back up. I'm going to try a couple more things, first thing is taking the oil breather off and see if that works. If they dont work, Razors Edge here I come. If you all have anymore ideas please let me know.

thanks

I'm glad your truck is running better. Check the tension on the throttle cable with the stock TB and then check it w/SBTB. I'd be surprised if the cable felt the same. I'd hate to go back to the mushy feel of the stock TB.
