Thermostat help, housing leaking

ok, since the truck was completely cooled, thought i would just try to swap stats over quick, went over well, lost almost no coolant,

however, as soon as i started the truck, cooland started seeping around the housing, so, now i guess i gotta drain some cooland and do this again

what did i do wrong, i thought the o ring was reusable, and i doubt it's there that it's leaking anyway

also, where is the best place to drain coolant from?

You might of tightened it down to hard and cracked it. Best place to drain it is from the radiator drain valve located on the passenger side.
