Modifying shift points with predator

I had a problem last fall in the cool weather (60's) with my truck not shifting out of 1st gear on the juice. Truck was making a lot of power and would just bang off the rev limiter, I'd have to back off and breath back into it. I'd like to shorten up 1st gear, was wondering if anyone has played around with their shift points using the predator? Is it easy to do? There is a lot of info on the predator, 90% of it is greek to me. Any help would be appreciated.

another question

if you get a program and load it from a tuner, can you go in and tweek those parameters, or do you have to have the tuner do it in that program.

sounds like the tranny wasn't keeping up with the computer, very common problem with juice. In those cases you need to just test-n-tune to find how much lower you need to lower the shift points so by the time the tranny actually shifts it is not hitting the rev limiter.

oh yeah, yes you can change the shift points in the predator. very easy to do. just use the "modify tune" section

Sounds like your truck is running right past the shift point due to the RPM's climbing so fast.

I've changed my shift points on several occasions, and it (Predator adjustment) works well. You may need to set your shift points 500 RPM lower than your desired shift RPM for the above reason. With nitrous, it makes so much torque, it doesn't hurt to short-shift (shifting at a lower than max HP RPM).

You can also raise to rev limit mine is set at 5700rpm. With my 6#er on if I would get on it and spin through 1st I'd hit the rev limiter so James raised the rev limit to 5700rpm and my shift points are 5400rpm works great.
