Post new hood

I replaced the stock hood with a steel cowl induction hood. One problem is that the steel hood is heavier than stock and the gas shocks/supports only hold for two minutes then K-BAM, and don't leave any valuable body parts in the way.
A 90 lb gas support worked for me, but I had to replace the mounting studs. YMMV, but I suggest finding a industral supply house that has bins of the contraptions, as making a match can be a bitch.

One of these posts has a link to a company that makes fiberglass 3" cowl induction hoods, I think it's www.cervinis.com. Besides the steel one being too heavy, how does it look? Do you have pictures? I'm still deciding between cowl induction or ram air.

The cowl induction hoods would look pretty cool but i think the hood Wyldman has looks alot better, gives it a meaner look. Also would the cowl induction hoods be ****ional??? i know with Wyldman's type there is a posiblity to have it ****ional (with you should do Wyldman if not already done or being done).

White Beast,

My winter project (along with cleaning up the Challenger, installing the new motor in the TBird, finishing the boy's Mustang....).
I just hope I don't run out of money before I run out of projects/toys to buy.

BTW, is White Beast your name or your name for the truck? I call mine the Black Beast (for obvious reasons of course. Appropriate if not overly imaginative).

I now that the Cervinis Cowl hood is functional. It is screened at the cowl to let all that under hood heat escape. But as far as looks,I think Wyldman made a great choice.

I like the ram air too, but from what I understand if he were to make it functional it would void the warranty. Since a functional cowl hood doesn't have anything to do with intake I wonder if that would void the warranty?

Cool

Interesting to note that the fiberglass AAD hood I put on my Lightning was actually heavier than the stock hood. That's because it is aluminum.
