Just got off the phone with those guys, and they are crate motors complete down to plugs/oil filter and oil. You need a computer and the associated wiring harness most of which you can get at a salvage yard, and to decide on a transmission.
I have a pristine low mileage ex-California 1956 F100 big window long bed with original Fordomatic that needs an engine transplant and this will make the perfect combo.
Help from you folks. What transmission should I use? Must I use a computer controlled one or can I use an older very strong "muscle car trannie"? Same question regarding the rear end. It has a stock about 7/8 inch 56 Ford with a 4:10 rear axle.
Let me hear from you.

Wouldn't you know, this comes about AFTER I buy the 4.6L DOHC for the Blackbird. Oh well, the TBird would have been undrivable w/a monster like that wedged into it. (Yeah keep on saying that. Over and over, "there's no place like home.....")
And for the naysayers out there, yes, there has been a 5.4L motor slammed into an MN 12 platform. It is custom, and it is trick, but, man, what a torque beast!

sorry my bad, i heard someone uncovered some lightning 351's. are these guys fully warrantied for piston slap, no matter what you slap it in?
sounds cheap w/blower, i've paid a lot more for blowers alone.

Anybody know if an aftermarket scattershield is available for the 5.4 Liter which would allow using a Ford Toploader? I've got a rust free 70 Mustang sportsroof which is just itching for one of those Lightning crate motors.

I just picked up my NEW Lightining engine a couple of hours ago from the dealer mentioned above.(In Kansas City) Looks like a steal to me for $4,000. Any questions, ask away. I think they still have around 7 left. Inlcuding mine, at least 3 went out their door today.

The picture shown doesn't have the blower belt, idlers or idler brackets shown. Also the Mass Air Sensor and ducting. Are any of these included? How about a flywheel? what do you plan on using for a transmission? Computer? Wiring between? etc. What date is stamped on your valve cover? I'm curious if these are some of the first Lightning engines built. I'm seriously considering one of these motors, but I'm aprehensive because it sounds too good to be true. I appreciate any info you can give.
