fuel injector?

I have the dreaded and annoying ticking sound noticeable when I'm next to a wall (like a drive thru). Using a home made scope I easily determined that it’s the #3 fuel injector on the driver's side. I did double check that plug and it’s fine. The injector is just loud

Anyone else dealt with this?

What's involved w\replacing one or would something like xylene run thru the system help?

Cant help you on the noise, mine dont do it
But I did change my own a few weeks ago, and it's cake.

The only thing you need to be able to do is remove two small bolts and the whole rail will lift up enough to change all the injectors, (or one in your case)
Just apply a little Vasoline, (I was out and used Motion Lotion, sad but true, shhhh the beatch dont know I used her Love Lotion)

Unfortunately the Drivers side is a little harder to get to because all the egr crap is in the way. But that only details 2 more nuts to remove, so still easy enough. To change one I'm sure wont take more than a 1/2 hour or so THE MOST

Lots of noisy injectors out there that work fine.

As far as cleaning goes as i understand it cleaners can solve quite a few problems but still cant clean the little filters inside of them, if they are clogged up no cleaners can help.

I had one down to bout 80% of its capacity and wot was leaning out 1 cylinder and i almost blew it up, so if you find a bit of pinging at wot its time to start searching for a problem whether its bad gas, overheating from one system or another, pumps, relays, filters, so on and so on.

R+R on the injectors is cheap insurance if you have any mileage at all and with 100 miles on it you can still get a errant piece of crap stuck in them.

R.E.M. did mine and the install is a piece of cake.

Odd thing with mine it's really just one. I just hate sitting there with a nice sound growling from my maggies and then the ticking right along with it, kinda ruins it for me.

Have them cleaned? is this something the local pep boys can do?

Anyone know how much one is or do you have to buy them in multiples?

You should switch to 50's
and I just happen to know where you can get a set at a great price

You couldn't hear a rod knock over my Mag and Headers, why dont you just add some more pulley and make the exhaust louder,

Guess I'll try xyelen or toulene (an old Ivan specialty mix).
If that's no good, then maybe try and fine a stock one or set cheap.

take care,
