Dead pedal

So I bought a set of pedals from Ultimatepedals.com.

Here is the dead pedal:

Super nice pedals, but no instructions, no hardware for the dead pedal. I am not even going to bother asking the mfgr. for ideas.

Anyone have any genius ideas on fabbing up some mounting hardware for this beotch? It should be several inches off of the firewall. The plastic kick panel will need to be cut. Angle brackets would hold the thing in place, but 300 lbs bracing for butt-clenching braking would bend that on the first turn.

Thanks

Mounting Dead Pedal

Tim:
I bought the exact same dead pedal from Ultimate Pedals. I took a 1x1 inch piece of steel square tube and cut a piece the same length as the pedal. Get (4) 1 inch corner brackets and bolt them to the tube placing 2 on each side so you now have 4 mounting points to your floorboard. Black plastic inserts dress up the ends of the bracket. Lay the pedal over the tube and mark and drill 3 holes to mount pedal to tube with sheet metal screws after you bolt pedal bracket to the floorboard. I am only 5'7" so I mounted mine more on the flatter area of the floorboard. I can still put full weight against the pedal and literally lift myself out of the seat so I know this bracket will hold. I purchased steel, black plastic end caps and screws at a local Home Depot for about 5 bucks. Good luck!!!

Thanks, Rick, but I can't see it in my mind's eye. Pics?

I can't tell how your is, but flat on the floorboard is not what I'm looking for. A dead pedal should be semi-vertical like the accelerator pedal (or about the angle of the parking brake pedal, which I will shorten or remove).

Thanks

update on Pedal mount.

Tim:
I should have been more specific in my description. If you look at the footwell area, you will see how the floor transitions to the angled floor for the pedal area. Because of my height I mounted the pedal at the lower area of the transition so it is angled like the pedals, not flat on the floor. For someone of your height, you can mount it higher up on the front wall and it will exactly match the angle of the pedals. I don't have a digital camera so I can't post immediate pics but I will try this weekend to get a shot. If you place it in the position you want, you will see how easy it is to mount it on the firewall without fabricating a flimsy bracket.

I suppose I need to get the truck back off the jackstands and give it a test fit. But when I imagined where I wanted one before, it was well off of the firewall -- like halfway between the plane of the firewall and the plane of the pedals. I would think that someone with shorter legs (I have a 36" inseam) would want it even closer, like on the plane of the pedals.

Pics would be cool whenever you get the chance. It's a total non-emergency for me.

Thanks for your help.
