Speedo Recal Procedure
Hey all, Sal here. Since I get E-mailed a lot about this, I looked into it at work today. The speedo can be re-caled, but it must be done by the dealer. Here is how it's done:
Using the NGS (Ford's scan tool) with the green function card (not the red diag card, you want to access Service Bay Functions. Go to the PCM Update selection. Scroll through the warnings and notices about modifing PCM settings. You want to come to the screen that has these 4 selections- Driveline, Tire Size, Axle Ratio, and Transfer case. When you find this screen, write down the current settings listed on the right of the screen. Now scroll down to the Axle ratio selection, and scroll through the menu until you find the desired axle ratio. You cannot input your own number, you must select one from the choices. There is a choice of 4.09, so that will work for you guys running 4.10s. After you select the desired axle ratio, you must re-input the values for the other three areas, that were previously written down. Then save all the data, and you're done!! You can print this out and show them if that helps. The dealer will most likey charge 1 hour labor or so. Hope this helps all you rear changin maniacs!! Let me know how it works.
