How much HP can stock block handle?
Hello all! I currently have the following mods:Accufab t body, cold air intake, phenolic spacer,6 lb pulley,Dynatech long tubes & cat back,JLP valve body,Diablo tune..I'm considering a Kenne Bell & was wondering if the stock block could handle this increased HP or should I just go the portrd route? Thanks for your help.

2 years now, maybe 100 passes and 12k miles at this level.
KBs can add up to or more than 22lbs of boost.
Most stock block guys keep it at 15-16.
There is no magic number. If you can tune it to keep it from detonating that is the main thing to keeping all the parts inside.

Ya Man I agree with Oh Man
I ran mine at 501/615 for one full year, and then 525/650 for another full year.
HOWEVER, when we took it apart (still running perfect) it was seconds away from spinning 2 bearings, and every entire valve guide was shot.

i don't think that is the question to ask anymore as I have gathered information from all the boards. I think the stock maf and fuel system are more of the limiting factor. As long as the tune is good in the truck, 450 rwhp seems to be reasonable with the stock injectors/fuel pumps/ and MAF, anything after that and you are playing with fire on those parts, not necessarily the block and stock bottom end parts anymore.
fuel injectors seem good up to 450rwhp
fuel pumps seem good up to 480rwhp
stock maf good until maxxing out at 5v which ranges 430-475rwhp.
a multiple people have pushed the stock block to 500 rwhp, but that is with the upgraded MAFs/maf extenders, and upgraded fuel systems.

it is amazing what these trucks will do with a the right combo of parts and most importanly a GOOD TUNE.i am going on my 2nd year putting down 529/703 with 100% stock block and fuel system(i know i am pushing it) my advise would be to find a tuner you are comfortable with an trust.good luck
488/579 here. 18 psi KB tuned by Dave@InjectedRacing I have seen the stock block hold more, and Ive seen them blow under less pressure. I think to a certain degree its the tuner, and the rest is just luck

My plan was to push the stock block towards a record 10 sec slip, using all the good parts (sct maf, twin 2 pumps, full exhaust etc). It took 19# of boost ok for 2k miles, and when I stepped it up to 21# it was running sweet. Good af monitored by wideband and fairly conservative 16* timing program. It blew after leaning out(im told due to Torco building up in the stock 1 micron filter) and I felt it nose over just before the death rattle.
Be careful with high speed runs as it was a highway roll on that took mine out.
