Thank's Chuck. I too suspect the new sender and maybe the wire connection. I made sure I had oil and then I took the 'cure-all' step of disconnecting the neg. battery terminal for 5 minutes with the headlights turned on last night.

Drove it to work again this morning and no lights or low oil pressure gauge....

Dan,
I was having some wierd gauge action on my '01 with similar mileage to yours. My battery was going, showed correct voltage but failed the load test. Have you replaced your battery yet?

Ya know, I havn't---been very 'proud' of it lasting this long............ I will certainly keep that in mind as it's more than overdue for a replacemment---Optima time don't ya think?

FWIW, all went well during the run to work as well as about 20 miles for lunch????

I am probably one of the few that had 2 senders go bad. I am now on my 3rd sendor. If you start up the engine and while running look in your valve cover breather hole and see oil pumping up there in your head ,your oil pump is a pumping.

Good idea pml. Thank you.

FWIW, no 'bad' lights all day today and I drove it about 80 miles.

um: I followed your advice and took it by an AZ and had them do a "load" test on the battery and had them check the alternator output; both were fine. That's a great 'free' service they previde.
