Newb L owner with a few questions

a coworker of mine told me about this site and so far it looks like I have a ton of reading to do, I plan on doing some searching but I wanted to hear from you peeps what I should be looking at for modifications and tuning, I see there are different vendors to pick from and I would like your ideas on who to use and not use

my coworker has given my his input on what/who to use but I would like your input also

I have read in the programming section and there is only one vendor that posts in there, why is that?

Thanks all

time to open the wallet and start spending some money

A good start would be any of these guys JDM , PSP , JLP or LFP . They all can provide you with good info and get you just about any mod for your truck. A good start would be a chip (or flash tuner), a 6lb lower pulley, and a valve body to firm up the shifts in your truck. One of the first mods I did was to lower my truck, you will get slightly better handling depending on how you lower it and it will look 100% better IMO. Good Luck.

I think a 6lb is a gamble. Some People have done it succesfully but there are some that have blown motors. It is ALL in the tune. I have a PSP tune and couldn't ask for better. As JDM, JLP are also respectable tuners. There are others out there this is just who most people go with. I've Never heard of a L owner running a Troyer Perfomance tune in here but maybe more experienced guys will chime in.

You will find that the more you read, the deeper you will end up digging into that wallet. Tons of info on here, just look, read, search, ask questions. It will soon become clear to you as well, that everyone has an opinion, and they will often conflict and disagree. It's up to you to figure out what you want and can afford, and decide which of those opinions you agree with.

Good advice given by "Regulator 54" - do a lot of reading before you spend your money! A lot of guys have spent many hours over the past years posting in here in giving their experiences with various products - they've been the "guina pigs" so to speak, as they were the first ones to try them out and report their results - and now you have the opportuinity to learn from them and not make the same mistakes so that you have the opportunity to make your best decisions to spend your money wisely.

PS: Lots of guys are running Mike Troyers tunes - and seem to like them.

Thanks for the inputs, I see some ppl have done some wacked out things with great results, there are some neat combo's on some of these trucks, regarding the tuning/mods I see that there are 3-4 vendors that do great things with these Lightnings and I can't wait to add some more hp to my truck

regarding Mike Troyer I searched and he doesn't post in this section and I don't feel comfortable without reading results, I looked at his posts in the programming section and I didn't see many Lightning owners posting in there and most are non supercharged applications, I think I will stick with the vendors listed above (JDM , PSP , JLP or LFP)

slowduck,
I have a Troyerpeformance tune in my 03 L. I am very pleased with the results so far. I went with the tuning, cold air kit and line valve mod at the same time all from troyerperfomance. I am still running stock boost for now but intend on adding a 4# in the near future. Ill still use Mikes tunes when I do so. Read up on him a lil more and you will see he has a L of his own and running low 11s.

Would be a plus is you could dyno tune it with whoever you choose to use. I dont have easy access to a dyno and havnt stepped up the boost yet so i use the email tunes for now. When i put a 4# on i plan on having it dyno tuned just to be sure.
