Smile Increased Performance

New to the forum and new to owning a Lightning, I have recently imported a 2004 Lightning from the States to the U.K having been a owner of some pretty quick perfomance motors in the past this is a whole new ball game. although i am well impressed with the performance (and who wouldnt be) But like any red blooded speed freak i need more.Where is the best place to start with increasing the performance, i have read through many posts on the Forum. But what i am looking to do is increase acceleration and straight line speed, not wanting to knock the road handling of the Lightning many of the roads in the U.K are not suited to a vehicle of the Lightnings size. bearing in mind any parts for modifications will have to be imported and what with U.K import taxes, shipping etc the price of any parts will be treble or more this could be one expensive exercise. And with fuel prices running at approx US$8 a gallon it just gets worse. So any suggestions you guys may have to give the Lightning that little something extra will be great news. look forward to your replys

Chip (or flash tool), Pulley (4 or 6lb) and valve body (to firm up shifts) would be great starts, they also are small items so shipping would be low. You should be able to all for under $800.
Ouch on the gas, how long have your gas prices been that high? is it a recent thing or have they always been like that? why are they so high? you guys are closer to the source.
