Angry Photo Posting

Hello everyone
Back on the 29th of October I posted how to use zing.com for photo posting and I even created a album (1999 Ford F150 Lightning Photos) there for posting Lightning Photos. Well it looks like someone lifted a photo of another owners Lightning(from the F150 Online board) and gave the impression that it was their's. This action must have PO'd the real owner and I heard about. The problem is I have no control over this. Yes, I could shut the album down but some of you have posted really cool photos of your trucks and I would like to keep them there. What do you say.

Keep it open. Everyone that puts their pictures there should know the risk that some idiot could take their picture. Is there any way to mark the pictures so that no one can take them for theirs? If I can figure out how to put my picture there I'll put it there. If someone takes that picture they have to claim the boat hooked to the back too. Scott

Hey guys, Sal here. I have been at sites where if you try to right click on a picture, a window comes up saying "Sorry, right click disabled to prevent theft". I don't know how it's done, just that it can be.

I say leave it up. I spoke with the injured party (no names) night before last and he told me all about it. I explained that once it is published on the web, it's fair game for anyone, most of the time.

There are exceptions. I would suggest speaking to the tech support people for zing.com and inquiring about the "right-click block". This is probably just a line of code they put in your user profile that can be easily added (they may want to charge for that service).

I am incensed that this heinous act occured, and the individual (again, no names) should be censured.

If you want pics, take 'em and send 'em to me, I have a nice scanner and will be happy to scan and transmit the electronic copies. If you include your name and address and email address (along with adequate postage, please) I will send your originals back to you.

Cool

The picture of the Lightning in question is also featured on my website with the permission of the owner. It's possible that the picture could have been stolen from my website instead of zing.com. As Wyldman stated, once its on the internet, its fair game. I wish I knew how to block right clicks on my homepage, but I dont.
Someone stole a picture of the engine on my Cobra once off my website, and I went through hell to get it off his website.
I wish I knew how to prevent this from happening.

Unhappy

Wyldman, BABOLT and all - I was the one who posted the offending photo to BABOLT's zing.com Lightning Photo Album. I picked up the photo from this bulletin board and didn't know who the owner was. I just thought it was a cool photo and people would enjoy viewing it at BABOLT's site (he requested posting of photos on his album). Being the first time I posted anything to someone else's zing.com site, I was surprised to see that it was posted under my ID. Once the photo was posted, however, I lost all control over it. I could not update the caption or even delete it when A-Lightning informed me that I shouldn't try to pass off his vehicle as my own (that was not my intention). I received a scathing e-mail from A-Lightning saying that I had stolen his photo and posted it on MY zing.com photo album and that is simply not the case. My site only contains photos of my vehicles, if interested, you can view them here...

I apologize for the misunderstanding. It was not my intention to take credit for something that is not my own. I am quite proud of my own accomplishments and do not need to live vicariously through others. I hope you all will accept my apologies.

Thanks to BABOLT for removing the offending photo from his site. Now, can we get back to learning from each other on how to improve the performance of our F-150s?

I was the one that probably posted the pic of A-Lightnings truck on this board. I had his permission. This whole deal sounds like a big mis-understanding. I'm forgetting the whole thing and moving on. HOT ROD, no hard feelings here.
Peace--- Mad`

Cool

Any pictures that I have posted on this site are welcomed to be used at your personel web sites. I think the question is one of ethics. As long as the photo is not misrepresented, I don't have a problem with it. I have pictures of Mumbly's and BABolt's trucks at my zing site and they are identified as such. HotRodSix posted a nice picture of a Lightning (which I would like to ask permission to use at my site) and was identified by zing as the submitter. He's right. When this happens, only the site owner can edit the picture/title. Zing also allows the site owner to review photos before posting (no direct downloading). This would allow the site owner to verify the authenticity of each photo with the submitter. I also understand when pictures are posted over the internet, the "cat is out of the bag" so to speak.

In view of the current state of affairs on this issue, I agree, let's move on.

I retract my statement earlier and in no way meant my comments as a personal attack on anyone.

Sixpipes, I apologise for the misunderstanding, and hope that you will forgive my hasty comments.

I've been hangin' 'round the T-Bird forum for too long. This kind of stuff is fairly common there. No excuses, just explanation.

Shoulda known better than to shoot off my mouth (keyboard, whatever...),

The apologetic

Agreed. Time to move on to more urgent business. Like....

Wyldman, are you really going to run your truck this weekend?
I think we should start a winner takes all on the ET. For $1 (US) I'm going with 13.17. Any takers?

Talking

Hey Guy!
I like how this all turned out. It just shows that when people talk open and honest most things can be worked out.

Could you give me the URL for that T-Bird forum. I would like to go there and check things out. I have a Bird too, an '83' with 7500 original miles running a blown and stroked 5.0l (347). It is my little surprise package for the street.
