Cool Roush Lightning in Black

DavidS

Picture of my Roush-lowered Lightning at last Sunday's SCCA Solo event in Bedford. The class I was put in was Novice F-stock. I'm such a novice I put the S and F in the wrong order. The Roush treatment really settles the truck down in the turns.

Sixpipes,

Awesome look for the truck! I saw you mentioned the handling improved, but did you lose any traction on a hard launch?

Excellent color, too! The fast one (hehe). I just took new pics of my truck w/the AAD hood on it. I'll be posting them as soon as I get them downloaded to my system.

What is the clearance between the ground effects and the ground, especially the front?
How much did the Roush kit lower the truck?

Very nice!

I know that BABolt mentioned a difference in the launch with the Roush suspension, but I have not noticed any difference. It should be noted that I had the complete kit installed (including the Bilsteins) and I believe he went just for the springs.

Distance from the lowest point in the front to the ground (under the fog lights) is 6 1/2 inches. Distance in the back (measured dead center under the rear bumper) is 14 inches.

A couple of other pictures that give you a better idea of how the truck sets. Since these pictures, I have added the AAD hood (which is being shown by Wyldman on another thread) and a tastefully done pinstripe job. New pictures to follow next week.

Mumbly

Missed you at the SCCA autocross. There were two other trucks there (S10 & Chevy Sierra) that would have been the meat in an F-150 sandwich. Smoked of course! We'll run in to each other soon.

With just 6 1/2 inches in front, I could use this for pushing around snow (that white stuff we get here in Michigan)--just kidding!!!

Wow, lowering the truck really makes a big difference in appearance, very nice! I'm still saving up to get my Lightning lowered, not cheap - but definitely a must in So. California. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Hey sixpipes!
I don't think you should leave your Lightning outside. It is sooooo fine. I would think someone would want it in a real bad way. Lets hope not. Nice job!
PS. just had to edit this message. sixpipes could you put the rest of your photos at the zing Lightning album site not only is your truck cool but you take good photos too.

AWESOME looking truck man! Seeing your truck with the Roush lowering and the Cobra hood is making me reconsider my future purchase of a Trans AM WS6. Just wondering how much did the lowering and hood set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

When you posted the picture of your Roushed Lightning several months ago, I decided right then that I was going to do the same thing. If I remember correctly, you decided to have only the springs replaced. Because I thought I might want to participate in a few autocrosses (which I have), I decided to go with the complete Roush Kit. A little pricey at $1500, but handling is greatly improved. I loaded a couple of additional pictures on your Zing site, but I don't think you want me to load all of them. Feel free to edit my comments.

HommieAV

Roush Kit $1500 + $250 installation. AAD hood is about $595 + $90 shipping (FL to TX)+ $200 for paint. I don't shop around much so you might be able to do better. I chose to have an authorized Roush shop do the install on the suspension so it would be covered by my warranty.

Sixpipes, NICE pinstripes; considering doing the same. Are they paint or roll-on?

The stripes are tape. Two 1/16th gray stripes with a 1/8th silver down the middle. I decided to go with the tape just in case I want to change the color scheme later.

Hi Sixpipes,
You have a GREAT looking truck and I thank you very for letting me drive it, I think! I thought my truck was BAD until I drove that beast. When I got home and "played" with my truck, it seemed like a toy! Again your truck just feels heavier than mine. I am also back to thinking about putting the blower on. Where does it all end?
