Cool ENGINE KNOCK

Reading all the posts about piston slap has got me worried. I hear an engine knock cold and warm at idle, does anybody else have the same? Also does anybody elses cats stink when you park. Mine crackle and stink even if I dont dog it. The crackle continues long after shutdown. Scott

that slight clack you hear are those big injectors firing. slap sounds like a diesel and "usually" quits after warm-up. cooler weather has caused my cat to crackle more than it did b4, when you shut down.

Mine don't stink, but they sure crackle a lot after shutdown.

Better check with Sal on that knock. I have had a cold engine knock twice, but it has gone away for now, thank goodness. He had to replace his engine due to piston slap.

Cool

It's not the injectors I can hear them. Its not real loud. My Suburban makes the same noise so it doesnt bother me to bad. I was just wondering if anybody else has this. If the engine goes south I'll just get another I gave up my syclone, Im not about to give up my lightning. Scott

when i shut my "L" off i hear that "crackling" sound also, i think that is normal though, jus tpart of the cooling down process.
