Stock Midpipe/Cats - Pictures after 11 month.

Hello !

I´ve tried my best to get this pictures as my Lightning was on the ground.

It starts with a small "metal - sounding rattle" best to hear on the driver site with open window driving along a wall.

Yesterday I was on the Autobahn and this was the End for my midpipe.

Here are the pictures how it can look after

11 month and 10000 mls. on a 2004 Lightning

My thought is that the stock ones maybe have a problem with the heat of the Autobahn speeds..... i don´t know....

I hope my favorites shops are open soon......

Greetings,

André

Andre, what a better reason to put Long tube headers and get rid of the cats!

Peace,

Suavy

Since that has to do with emmisions shouldn't that be covered under the factory emmisions warranty? I believe it has a different time limit than the actual truck warranty. At least you'd have a new set of mids for when you need to go through emmisions testing.

Thank you for your words !

On tuesday i have talked to Mark/LFP and ordered:

BASSANI stainless Midpipe with Highflow Cats.

For normally i liked the sound my MAC does, but i think the Bassani are better performance ones and i am no longer trust in the stock ones. I know i will get a big change in sound......
Hope it will get deeper with a nice more rumbeling sound.

I am really curious !

Many greetings,

André

The dealer i bought my Lightning from will pay because of warranty.
I´ve got only 1 year warranty to all parts on her because she´s an import.
You can´t get F150´s by a german Ford dealer, only from special "free" dealers.
Ford wont give me a warranty in germany.

Probably the only guy that could ever take advantage of a warranty on the emissions and Ford even finds a way to get out of replacing it.

Looks to me like the pipes were roasted to the point of failure. If I were you I would add EGT guage when you replace the exhaust. That way you can keep an eye on the exhaust gas temp - It may be that you need a tune adjustment to cool things down some at 140 mph...
