Exclamation Will I be left out?

Hello, I will be buying a 2000 Lightning around June. This is when I will be graduating High school and can start working full time. Will I be too late? I live in
North Alabama and don't know of any SVT dealers in my area. I would love to be able to get a black or Silver one. I heard the Silver one's don't come out till after the 1st of the year, so that might be good for me.

I guess your thinking this is quite a leap for a 18 year old, and yeah I KNOW it is. I've read a lot about the Lightnings and am totally hooked and am totally against Chevy!

My insurance is around $700 every 3 months for this truck, and payments will be about $400 per month. (Assuming financing of 20000 at 7.0% for 72 months through local credit union.)

I dead set of these trucks, and I'm gonna have one. I just hope their as much fun as you say. Oh by the way, Sal , you will be getting some business from me as soon as I get me a truck.

June is probably too late. My suggestion would be to scrape together about $500. Most dealers will hold a vehicle for that. Order it in early spring and you should take delivery at the end of May (thats how it worked for me. I actually ordered in March and took delivery right after my college graduation in may.)

I wouldn`t be surprised if some insurance companies are hesitant on insuring you.I had this problem also when I was 17. Good luck these trucks RULE!!!....

Actually, they arent that bad to insure if you shop around. My insurance stayed the same when I switched from a 97 F150 4x4 to the Lightning.

My insurance company classified my Lightning the same as any of the F-150's, which was a whole lot easier to swallow than the rate they charged me (and I'm as old as dirt)for my Cobra...........

Hey LST, I`m also in north AL; got mine from Joe Sartain Ford in Decatur. Pretty good folks to deal with(they held mine for $500), and one of several SVT dealers in our area. Man, those insurance rates are mind-boggling! You could buy another car(used) to beat up on for that kinda dough. Good luck!
