Insurance Question.
Insurance Question.
Hi guys, Im thinking about getting a lightning in a month or so, I have one I want at a local dealer, the only thing stopping me from buying it is I dont know how much insurance is. I went to geico, and it told me my rate was 630.00 every 6 months. This seemed a little low to my friend who's into cars, So I want to check with you guys. What do you pay for insurance?
The other question I have, Is where can I purchase the Console in these pictures. https://www.f150online.com/galleries...ew.cfm?num=101
And to who ever owns that car, it is very nice. Im sure I'll have more questions about it, so I'll come back when I do.
Thanks,
Sean

Thanks for the quick response, although it does have me confused a bit. You say it costs you around 1371 for 2 cars every 6 months. And than the truck is 1125 every 6 months. So could you go explain this a little bit better for me.
This is going to be my first car, and my parents said they would put it under their name to make the insurance go down. I'll be paying for the car, so none of these spoiled remarks please
Anyways, if you could explain your paymeants in detail, about the 2 car thing, I would appreciate it alot.
Thanks,
Sean
Insurance rates will depend on:
Your age
Your gender (male or female)
Where you live
How many moving violations you have
Possibly your credit report
So you really can’t compare what one person pays with another. However, I can tell you that when I replaced my 01 F150 that had a V6 with my 2003 Lightning the cost per month went up approx. $5.00 (yes five bucks)
I had her recheck it but for what ever reason it is not listed, or priced for insurance, as a performance vehicle. This is with State Farm, and it was listed as a F150 Lightning. So if your rate was good for a regular F150 you should "not" see it spike up much.
Best thing to do is what I do before I purchase any vehicle CALL your insurance and ask what it will actually cost instead of being surprised after the fact…

both my vehicles combined are 1371. the truck alone is 1125. my other vehicle is like 246 or somethin every 6 months. Since you will be under your parents policy it will save you a ****load. when i was living at home i was on my parents policy and i was paying like 550 every 6 months for the lightning and 400 for my other car but i was NOT on my own name and i was rated on/primary on my beater. With 2 cars most insurance companies give you discounts for multiple cars and you will get rated on 1 as your primary vehicle and you are rated on that one.
also insurance usually depends on if you own it or got a loan for it. I own both of mine if that makes any difference.

03 Lightning cost $5 more than an 01 ranger. Insured as an SVT vehicle, too.
I have Nationwide.

wow, well I got the official quote from geico, it was 607.50 for 6 months, witch is in my limits. So it looks like in a month or so I'll get my lightning.
The only question that wasn't answerd, was were to get a console like the one in that users gallery, but I'll email the owner of that truck and gallery.
Thanks guys, I first though I was going to get "bitched around" but you guys are really nice. Every other forum I've joined, Bass and this game called airsoft I used to play, everyones always pissed off at everyone. So thanks for being nice to me and helping me out.

Generally, most insurance companies have no special "performance" classification for a Lightning and they are rated the same as a standard F150. At least, this is true with State Farm with whom my 01 is insured at $671.80 per year for full coverage. Of course, this is with a multi car & homeowners discount and no lienholder/tickets/accidents.
As a comparison, my 98 Mustang GT daily driver costs $792.76/yr with s/f
and it's not hardly worth anything! Go figure!
