S/C noise at the drags lastnight

my S/C doesnt sound good at idle. almost like its grinding something, but when i pulled the belt and hand spun it, it was smooth. the temp gauge was only at 1/4 and the S/C was almost too hot to touch. and when i get over 80-100 i get a rattle type noise thats hard to describe. any ideas? low oil in the S/C maybe? would a 4lb lower do this after 3000 miles?

instead of just spinning the blower pulley, try putting some downward pressure on the pulley when spinning. Your lower 4 lb pulley would have nothing to do with this.
It does sound like a bad snout bearing.
How many miles on the truck?

Check your boost actuator, mine failed this weekend. It would stay shut at idle, causing the charger to build heat, burn my hand to the touch. It would sound like a bad power steering pump. So check the actuator, to verify the arm lifts up at idle, and the lever contacts the stop upon boosted throttle. If not, either your actuator is bad, or the vac lines going to it.
Just something to check out.
