Hello Everyone,

I've been reading this site for 6 months and
could not stand it any longer. Today I made
a deposit on a 2000 Lighting. Last "hot rod"
I owned was an '86 Mustang GT. Found out at
the dealer today also that the 2000 models scheduled for Dec.6 build will be delayed till late Jan. or early Feb. due to shortage
of "starters". Has anyone else seen anything
about this any where. Looks as though I may
have to wait an extra month or two to get my
youth back. By the way, this message board is by far the best on the web.

 

i specked out a 2k lightning last week and the computer at the dealership said their was a hold due to the starters. it also said the hold will be lifted 12/06.

I have a 2000 on order, I'm in Michigan, so if it waits to April that is ok with me.
What kind of price have you guys seen for the 2000's?
I order mine and my price is 28,500, (no dicount) the option have changed so I should check the price again.

 

sounds like a 2000.5 is in the works, ask any of us 99.5ers what the wait is like i wish some of the old posts were still on the board, we were like that kid that wanted the red rider bb gun for Christmas in that "Christmas Story" movie (only we were not as mature about it)

 

I'm in North Carolina, having to pay window
sticker for 2k Lightning $30,710. Most of
the options on 99's are standard at this
price (still paying for them). Dealer was
allocated 4, my deposit was on the third one.
He has only 1 left with no deposit. He will
sell the all at sticker price no doubt.

you should check around. i ended up buying a black 99 (which i know believe IS faster than the red) from bob dunn ford in greensboro, nc for 25.5. if i would have gone with a 00, they would sell it for 1000 under (that was for a red one, may be less for black, white, silver). if your interested, call bob peele 336-275-9761.

I'm just waiting on my R/C F150 Lightning. It was ordered on the 2nd. Anyone know how long its supposed to take to arrive?

Nathan - Got mine in about three weeks. Pretty cool little truck. I'm even wilder with the RC than the real thing. I creamed a raised manhole cover the first day.

You may have more SVT dealer competion in
Greensboro area. Eastern part of the state
has few SVT dealers and ALL are asking for
sticker at this time. They know they can
sell them. At least this one is local.

 

WHOAH!! R/C LIGHTNING?? Where did you guys find those? I need one under my Christmas tree!! Let me know.

I also have one on order in Michigan.My price is 26,016 plus 6% tax. My dealer was alloted 6 vehicles and I ordered #5 from them about 3 weeks ago. Springtime delivery is fine with me.

 

Hey guys, Sal here. I gotta say that I find it a bit hard to believe that production could be delayed for the 2000 trucks, especially since Job 1 isn't until Dec 6. It's kind of hard to delay something that hasn't arrived yet. And for starters? Nothing special about a Lightning starter. Same thing as any other Triton truck starter. I know all about delays. I was supposed to get Job 1 of the 99s, I had a deal worked out with SVT, but they screwed me around on that one. I followed all the 99 production delays from the bed covers, to the fuel tanks, to the water pump delays. I did get my truck about 1 1/2 months before anyone else in NY, but # 416 is a far cry from #1. Oh well, I'll look into it more and see what I can find out.

Sal, i remember how po'ed you were about #1. and getting an early one didn't always work out being the best one. i'll bet #1 has cowl screw covers,slap, water pump snout crack,steering clunk,belt slippage,leaking intercooler,pulls to left,no bed cover or one that rolls up at the edges,check engine light,6psi boost, and some of the other "minor" problems. looking at some of the build #'s, mine has to be around 3000 and mine does not have one single problem, hit 8000 miles since aug 1 and never been back to dealer.

about this starter deal. It did come up
on the dealers computer while he was trying
to process the order on 11/9. He said the
message had been appearing for several days.

as soon as I can get a projected delivery
