Red face New Flowmaster installed

Well guys, I broke down and replaced my stock muffler with a flowmaster 50 series two in two out. It's called the SUV performance series. The truck sounds great at idle and moderate acceleration...HOWEVER:

At high speed WOT it sounds like a loud swooshing sound. For you old timers, kinda like the smog choked vehicles of the mid to late 70's. I was wondering what some of you that have installed flowmaster went with..ie did you put in duals or go with one unit? I'm concerned the one unit with two in and two out may not be able to handle the volume of gases put out by the beast. I will be contacting Flowmaster Tech Help to check with them, but I believe ya'll (I'm from Texas) are the best source for unbiased info.

The power is good down low, but I swear it seems to be running out of breath up high..and that awful sound. argh.

Cool

I've already gone through all of what you've said. I went to Mufflex and did the 2 in 2 out thing with the same results. It sounds like you cut off an airhose at full throttle. He called the Flowmaster tech rep and they have said that they have been getting many reports of the same problem. I went back and the owner installed two 3 chamber mufflers with s/s tips and it sounds great. If I did it again I would go with the two chambers because it could be a little louder. Denny at Mufflex-performance.com will be selling a bolt on cat back Flowmaster system soon. See my previous post and E-Mail me, I'll send you the pictures of my inslall job. Scott

Did you notice any change in the RPM's? If it is restricting exhaust flow it will lower RPM, if not it will go up. Sound isn't important when your out front, the chevy's and dodges get to listen to it and it makes them have "nightmares".

Question

Spiro99SVT, What's the part # of your 2 chamber Flowmasters?

------------------
99.5 White Lightning. Snuglid, Bedrug, then stock (for now).
