Ported Blower beginning to lock up?

Today, driving around, I noticed a moaning like sound from the engine bay. So i pull out the predator, check for codes, and check IAT2 temp, its 155 degrees. So i figure, not so good. The moaning sound resembled a failing power steering pump, and would fluctuate w/ the throttle. So i removed the blower belt, noise is gone. Nothing catching when spinning the upper pulley by hand. Oil is clean, and full.

Now what could it be?
Bearings gone bad?
Rotor to case clearance issues?
Maybe the actuator went bad? I never checked to see if it was moving.

well??? IM at a loss.......will dissemble tomorrow or sunday.

check your idle pulleys and make sure they are all spinning freely

Did you spin the blower and see if the sound is coming from the snout? Most likely that. Could also be the rotor to case thing.

Let us know I could talk you through the repair if your out of warrenty.

Peace,

Suavy

I could spin the blower pulley pretty freely. I'll take a better look at it today, probably wont get to take it apart today though. And yeah i'd say my warranty is way gone...haha. I'll Keep you updated, out of curiousity, how much is swappin the bearings.

Not Good!

How much boost are you running? Do you have stripped rotors?
I was running about 18lbs when mine locked up. I had the same sound. I hope you caught it in time to save it. Mine is now a door stop.

You most likely need to adjust the boost actuator. They rarely go bad(almost never). You need to loosen the two small bolts and move it so it just touches the lever on the blower. then go down another 1/8 inch. There is a link on this somewhere. Maybe someone else has it.

yea well adjusting it wouldnt do much beings it doesnt move anymore. and i assure its adjusted correctly anyhow, as I've read the article, etc on it, and adjusted accordingly. Its broken. Checked the vaccum lines going into it, thier fine. So obviously the spring or whatever in it has torn up.
