What's a fair price ???

Ok guys, need a little insight. I found an '04 Lightning at a dealership and trying to figure out what would be a fair price. Supposedly it's only got approx 2,500 miles and is in showroom condition, totally stock. What do you think would be a good offer?
Thanks.

Right now may be a good time to make a LOW offer based on current gas prices around the country. That dealer will have a limited market for a 12mpg
vehicle I would think. Chance are he already has a lot full of SUV's that were taken in on trade that he needs to MOVE!

I think 26K would be the most I would offer. I'd start with 24k if mileage is correct and condition is perfect.

To be honest, at least in my opinion, I don’t think you will see the prices of Lightning’s drop that much, at least not to do with gas prices.

People don’t buy vehicles like Lightning’s thinking about gas mileage and what it would cost. Since it is at a dealers you might have some room to work because like was stated they may be holding on to a lot of trucks and SUV’S due to the rising gas prices.

I have heard that this price rise for gas is temporary and that by months end or so will be back to the price it was around last week. I don’t know that to be fact but many refineries are coming back on line that were not operational because of the storm.

I would watch what happens in the next few months.

I feel sorry for some people that are having troubles affording to keep them operating, and try to sell. The trucks really are not moving from what I have seen.

I think the reality is that a majority of the people will not want to operate a vehicle that may get 12 mpg or less, especially with warnings of $4-5 a gallon.
I would like to say that prices will return to very affordable, but realistically what can we expect? $2.50 or so for ultra?.

If you look on the boards there are a few people selling there Lightnings due to various circumstances and there just not getting much for offers. I mean I have seen some really good deals on some 2003 and 2004s. Check out NLOC, or other classifieds section.

I was in the market for a low mileage Gen2 when prices seemed good, but decided to keep my Gen1 as my daily driver for awhile longer, due to fuel costs.

The sad thing is many people can not afford to let them go for the prices they may bring, so they are forced to keep them and deal with the fuel cost in doing so.

Now there are always some people in a different situation and maybe able to afford to operate one, but sellers just need to make sure these people out weigh the people that can't afford to operate them.

I hope the prices come down, I love the Lightning and really can't imagine driving something smaller. Cost to operate may change that in time.

If your situation/driving conditons allows you to afford to keep one then now is probably one of the best times to buy, it will hurt but sellers may come down. Check out ebay (Search/completed Items) to see the average there actaully going for, or if they even sold.
good luck

I think their dreaming, if they think the Lightning will get that price.

That being said, if it sells for that price, its good for all of us. 2 more payments on mine, and I got so much $$ in mine, I will never sell it, or atleast get what I got in it. Thinking of trading my Explorer in on one of those hybrid Escape's. If your going to spend 30K on a vehicle, get one thats fuel efficent.

Awh, F'it.........
Buy the Lightning
