Lightbulb Overhead Console

My stepson just puchased a 2000 extended cab XL work truck (w/4.6L V8). He loves the truck (his second F-150) and hauls computer hardware around in it under an A.R.E. cap (works for SGI).

Anyway, I was looking at his truck and was impressed by the new overhead console on the 2000 MY trucks. Very neat installation. Electronic compass and two storage compartments. He said his dealer told him that the 2000 console is available for order and installation on 99's.

I haven't checked with my dealer yet but plan to. In the mean time, has anyone else looked at one of these overhead consoles and/or does anyone have any info concerning ordering or installation on our '99 Lightnings?

Thanks.

If you are being serious about the overhead console being something you can order and add to a 99, then I'm going to my dealer the next chance I get. I so want one of those. If you find out anything on this, please let me know.

Cool

I just got back from Bob Beatty Ford in Simi Valley, CA. The parts guy tried looking up the parts, with no success. He found a couple of descriptions, but no pictures or prices. He also said that the service department tried to install one (don't know where they got it) and it was a real bear. Apparently there's a wiring harness needed thats tough to route as well. I question where the signal comes from for the temp. Does it use the IAT signal like some GM cars do, or is it standalone?

Angry

Per the below copied E-mail, my dealer says the console is not available because of fit. Bummer! Hope that's not true.

Wyldman, didn't I see a post where you indicated you had one on order? Maybe I should get your dealer to call my dealer.

Here's my dealer's e-mail:
