I'm close to buying either a '00 Camaro Z28 or '00 F-150 Lightning. I was wondering what are my chances of paying invoice for a '00 Lightning? I live in Central CA, if that makes a difference. How many of you were able to pay invoice or close to invoice for your Lightning?
If I'm able to pay invoice or close to invoice, I'd be tempted to go with the Lightning over the Z28, but if I can't get a Lightning for under 30 grand I'll go with the Z28 probably. Thanks for the help guys!

Hey Alex, Sal here. I myself, among others, paid sticker for my 99. Some paid more, some paid less. I've seen them sold for 38k, and I've seen people get them for 28k. It all depends on where you go and each individual dealer. There's no doubt you could get one for sticker, you just might have to search for it.

I got mine for $2,555 under sticker. There are three dealers in my (Cleveland, Oh) area competing for SVT sales. Mike Bass in Avon, Williams in Berea, and Mullinax in both Amherst and Wickliffe. I got Mine at Mullinax in Wickliffe (Don Collins (440)585-8000), they were the furthest from my home, but have given me great deals on both my Cobra and Lightning.

HommieAV (?) Invoice is out of the question in California. As long as they stick with the 4000 a year and not balloon the number like they did with the Cobra then MSRP is a good price. $2500 UNDER MSRP is a steal but he is talking California, not Cleveland (sorry I couldn't help myself)

I have 6 SVT dealers within 40 miles and none of them were dealing much under MSRP. Most were trying to get $2500 to $5000 over. It sounds like Northern Ohio is definately a good place to buy a Lightning.

BTW, Invoice on a '00 is $27,233, MSRP is $31,375. This includes freight but no options.

Checking pricing in Texas, you'll find a few grand over Sticker in some places, and right at MSRP at others. At invoice? Not in this lifetime.

 

I Think my "Z" plan was $26,387 out the door. But ya gotta be an employee or close relative(me) of one.

Hommie I would say you would have a better chance at getting one under $30k than we did since there will be 5K produced compared to 4K for 99. I would think your looking at having to buy it out of state so I would find where the largest concetration of SVT dealers are in another major city say Phoenix mabey? I was about to say Texas since I heard alot of our Ford trucks are going there even with a glut of trucks already there. However Nathan nixed that suggestion with his post above. Heck mabey call up the Detroit area SVT dealers which are supposed to be pretty concentrated and see if that would work in your favor. The drive back would be a blast.
However even with all these suggestions I keep thinking that isn't there a law on Calf. books about this being illegal due to emissions? Any Cali guys know if your Lightnings were altered for Calf. emissions or if they do meet their standards when shipped? Good luck Hommie in finding your 00' and believe me you will get alot more looks with that truck than with the Z

Greetings HommieAV. I also live in the Central Valley, CA and bought my Lightning at Razzari Ford/Mazda in Merced, CA (209)383-3783. Ask to talk with Ron, who handles SVT sales. They are limited to what Ford will supply (5 units this year that I know of) but as far as I know, they sold all of them for MSRP, and I got mine (my wife worked there for years) for just a shade above invoice, which I have a copy of. You can also lease, which will lower your payment. Your alternatives are Swanson-Fahrney Ford in Selma, CA and Fremont Ford in Fremont, Ca As far as I know, they are the only, and closest dealers to the central valley. Hope this helps. I have bought three SVT vehicles from Razzari in the past with good service each time, except of course for the current problem with my Lightning, but that's not their fault.

on the svt website, it states that their vehicles are 50 state legal and are not altered for california emissions.
