Exclamation Something to keep in mind- related to belt noise-burning rubber

Hey guys, Sal here. I had a small problem that made me recall the burning rubber-belt thing from a while back. I have had a problem with a wierd belt/pulley noise on cold start (damn these cold start noises). It turned out to be a cracked timing cover. There are two idle pulleys mounted on the timing cover for the accessory belt. One of the bosses on the cover that the pulleys mount to, was cracked off, causing the pulley to move and not be true on the cover. It REALLY sucked to change that cover in the truck, but you gotta do what you gotta do Just keep this in mind for those of you who have belt issues. I didn't have a smell or slip, or noise other than cold start, but I did see some rubber residue around the pulleys. Figured I'd pass along the info.

SAL
